Management changes at Royal Van Leeuwen

  • Peter Rietberg to step down as chairman of the Management Board on April 9, 2025
  • Joop Sassen appointed as new chairman of the Management Board
  • Hans Weerstra and Vincent Geerts appointed to the Management Board

Mr. Peter Rietberg will step down as chairman of the Management Board of Royal Van Leeuwen at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on April 9, 2025, thereby concluding his daily activities for the company. Mr. Rietberg will remain associated with the company as shareholder and will continue to follow the company with a keen interest. Peter Rietberg began his career at Van Leeuwen in 1989 and joined the Management Board in 2000. His long career with the company will be celebrated in the third quarter of 2025.

The company’s Supervisory Board thanks Peter Rietberg for his long-standing and successful leadership of the company. Through strategic acquisitions and organic growth, the company’s revenue and profitability have significantly increased. A transformational acquisition in 2019 gave Van Leeuwen access to important new markets in Europe and doubled the size of the company.

Mr. Joop Sassen will be appointed chairman of the Management Board of Royal Van Leeuwen as of April 9, 2025. Joop Sassen has been with the company since 1992 and has been a member of the Management Board and CEO since 2007.

As of April 9, 2025, Mr. Hans Weerstra and Mr. Vincent Geerts will be appointed to the Management Board. Mr. Weerstra has been with Van Leeuwen since 1999 and is currently a member of the Executive Board. Mr. Geerts has been with the company since 2021, as CFO and also as a member of the Executive Board.

The Management Board will consist of members with extensive knowledge of the company and many years of experience, thereby ensuring the company’s long-term continuity.
