GDF Amstel Field

GDF Amstel Field

In 2010, GDF Suez acquired the rights of the Amstel Field (Q13A), and in 2011 they started with the production of 3 new platforms, Amstel Q13-A, Sierra L5a-D and Orca D18a-A.

GDF Suez successfully drilled an exploration well on the Sierra prospect in the Dutch sector of the North Sea at 1.2 million cubic meters of gas per day. The L5a block is located 100 kms northwest of Den Helder, The Netherlands. Partners in the L5a production licence are GDF Suez (60% and Operator) and the Dutch state (Energie Beheer Nederland; 40%),

The un-manned production platform Orca  D18a-A will have a production capacity of 4.8 Million Nm3 of natural gas per day. Produced gas will be transported via a new pipeline to treatment platform D15-A for further processing.

Van Leeuwen has been awarded several orders to supply (super) Duplex, Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel valves (Ball, DBB, Check & Globe) for the production of these platforms. The Offshore Topside team was responsible for the sourcing, coating, inspection & testing, documentation and final delivery of the valves to the various production locations in the Benelux.

Additionally, Van Leeuwen supplied S355G1/12+M beams as well as SMLS tubes (S355G15+N), both according to EN10225. Last but nog least, SAW tubes (API 5L X52 MOD) were supplied by Van Leeuwen, to bring the construction of the platforms to a success.
